Learning with Purpose: The Power of Student Agency

The Personal Project serves as an important platform where this agency is tested and cultivated. This programme is not just a final assignment, but the culmination of self-reflection. When the Personal Project is connected to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the potential for student agency reaches a far more meaningful level.

Through this approach, students are free to choose the global issues that resonate most deeply with them, amplify their ideas and solutions through tangible product designs or real-world action, and chart their own learning process. Engaging in this interdisciplinary learning model does far more than hone academic capabilities such as critical thinking, research methods, and time management, collectively known in the IB curriculum framework as Approaches to Learning (ATL).
