“One of the habits that I think is very important and relevant is Begin with the End in Mind.”
I joined SPI in Grade 7. I learnt English from a beginner level, while my friends were more advanced, but I kept reading books and practising my speaking skills. I had the opportunity to learn about leadership by participating in the Pilar Student Council (PSC). I was the vice president of the Senior High PSC. My PSC friends and I organised various fun activities, which developed my communication and collaboration skills. I learnt about the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. One of the habits that I think is very important and relevant is Begin with the End in Mind. At SPI, I learnt to set goals, which helped me to achieve my dreams. I think it was a good decision for me to invest my teenage time in learning new skills, taking opportunities, broadening my knowledge, and discovering new passions and talents. I participated in various school programmes, such as the Personal Project Exhibition. I designed and made solar-powered batteries. I learnt about designing, prototyping, and problem-solving.
After high school, I continued my education at the University of Indonesia, majoring in Physics. Then, I enrolled in another programme the next year and got a degree in Marine Engineering. I could manage to balance my academic and organisational activities. After graduating, I worked in the shipping and marine engineering field. Currently, I have a full scholarship to continue my master’s degree in renewable energy, in South Hampton, UK.
