Playing with Kak Han Jong Dae from South Korea

Grade 1 is currently exploring the unit under the transdisciplinary theme “Where We Are in Place and Time”. The central idea is Technology has changed how we play”. On, 13th January 2017, Grade 1 students had a great opportunity to meet  Kak Han Jong Dae, a student from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (South Korea) who is learning Indonesian, as a guest speaker about traditional games from his country. He shared three kinds of traditional korean games namely Baduk, Omok, and Alkagi. The students were very excited to play the games together.

Science is Fun: Grade 6 Excursion to PP-IPTEK

On the 8th of December, Grade 6 students went on an excursion to Pusat Peragaan  Ilmu Pengetahuan dan Teknologi (PP-IPTEK), TMII Jakarta. We are currently preparing for the PYP Exhibition, with the theme of How the World Works. The students have been working together to come up with the topic, related to their own interests and wonderings.

Grade 1 Parent Workshop: Understanding How Students Learn at Sekolah Pilar Indonesia

On 19th of November 2106, Sekolah Pilar Indonesia invited parents/guardians of our first graders to take part in Parent Workshop. This activity was held to give an opportunity for the parents to really understand how students learn at our school. First of all, in the first session, the parents received an overview on how students learn through the IB – PYP (International Baccalaureate–Primary Years Programme) at our school, and in the second session, we involved parents to experience learning through inquiry. We used a Grade 1 unit under the theme of “Where We are in Place and Time” with the central idea “Technology has changed how we play”.
