Grade 4 students have recently explored a unit under the theme of “How We Organize Ourselves”. The central idea was “Many stages of thinking and planning are needed to organize events successfully”. As the summative assessment task, the students were asked to plan and prepare an event in groups, based on their classes: Boston group and Sydney group. They discussed the issue and cooperatively decided on what they needed to hold their events, starting from choosing the theme, dividing the work, preparing and collecting the items they needed such as invitations and refreshments, decorating the venues, as well as preparing a rundown of the events. The teachers supervised and gave some suggestions related to their events.

Recently Grade 6 students proudly held their PYP Exhibition. As students of the final year of the programme, they carried out an extended collaborative inquiry project. Focusing on the theme of “Sharing the Planet”, they researched a variety of issues such as air pollution, animal poaching, mining exploitation, decision making, mass organizations and internet safety. Throughout the process, the students learnt to apply the thinking, communication, self-management, social and research skills. They took responsibility for their own learning and presented their understandings in front of parents and the school community.
